What'S On Tv? - The Future For Strontium Carbonate

The future of the strontium carbonate market is bound by two factors. The first is the availability of the only commercially exploited strontium ore mineral, celestite (SrS04) - largely supplied from Mexico, Spain and Turkey. The second is the fortunes of its main end use market application, since 80% of all production is used as a raw material in the manufacture of TV glass and computer monitor screens. The future for glass CRT TV and monitor systems is one of importance, but other technologies, notably various flat panel displays such as LCD screens are slowly getting cheaper and better in quality. This will have an impact on strontium carbonate in the next 20 years, but how soon and to what extent is anyone's guess.
