Verification Of 3D Mathematical Simulation With Measured Temperature Profiles During Furnace Operation

Glass quality is very dependent on ther performance of the glass melting processes in industrial glass tanks. An industrial glass melter may be regarded as a large chemical reactor in which several chemical and physical processes take place. Most of these processes overlap and thus it is impossible to distinguish single zones for the processes of melting, degassing or refining, homogenisation and conditioning in the tank. All these processes are very dependent on local temperatures and convenction currents in the molten glass. In this paper a validation experiment of the 3D TNO Glass Tank Model will is presented.
