Use Of X-Ray Micro-Analysis To Identify The Nature And Source Of Glass Micro-Fragments (In Italian)

Quantitative chemical analysis is the most powerful tool for the classification & discrimination of small glass fragments in forensic and archaeometric analytical issues. In the first part of this paper, after reporting a brief description of the main types of industrial glasses, the advantages & the limits of X-ray micro-analytical techniques in the analysis of small glass fragments are discussed. In the second part, two case studies concerning the application of these techniques to the classification & discrimination of small glass fragments of the solution of industrial problems (ie client complaints) are presented.
