Use Of Plastic Vessels For The Analysis Of Glass And The Colorimetric Determination Of Iron As Perchlorate

Crucibles made from polytrifluorchloroethylene (hostaflon) were tested for their resistance to hot concentrated acid and alkali followed and the material is suitable for chemical analysis work, e.g for the decomposition of acids with hydrofluoric and perchloric acids or hydrofluoric and sulphuric acids. Directions for working with hostaflon apparatus were given. In the second part it was shown that iron could be directly determined colorimetically as a perchlorate after decomposition with hydrofluoric and perchloric acid in hostaflon crucibles.
