A bottle factory in India has built a Unit-Melter glass furnace. These furnaces have already been in use for some years in various countries since around 1951, and in spite of the absence of regenerators or recuperators, are successfully competing with tank furnaces with have large regenerators. With their small dimensions and relatively high specific glass yields, these furnaces produce satisfactory glass and have good economic characteristics.
