Standards And Calibration Procedures For X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis Od Soda-Lime Glasses

A procedure is given for establishing materials as reference standards for the accurate analysis of soda-lime glasses by x-ray fluorescence spectrometric analysis. The basic steps in the process are selection, preparation, homogeneity testing, chemical analysis and confirmation of the results. Three methods od manipulating the chemical and x-ray intensity data were investigated to determine the optimum conditions for precision, accuracy and economy for the analysis. The methods were 1) the linear regression of the raw data, 2) the same regression corrected for the CaO content of the specimen and 3) a modified COREST matrix correction program.
