Spreading Dynamics Of Non-Newtonian Liquids On Rigid Solids

The dynamics of spreading of liquids finds many practical applications in industry, such as coating, adhesive bonding, printing, etc. To-date, only the dynamics of spreading of newtonian liquids has been theoretically studied for rigid substances. In this study, the wetting dynamics of a newtonian liquid and non-newtonian liquids have been studied on a flat, smooth and clear glass substrate. Dynamic contact angles have been measured with a contact angle goniometer equipped with a video system capable of analysing 24 frames per second.
