Si02-Ti02 Glasses Sintered From High-Density Colloidal Gels

The addition of TiO2 to SiO2 reduces the thermal expansion coefficient leading to ultra-low expansion glasses. These glasses are typically prepared by direct gas phase deposition or sol-gel methods, which are rather high in manufacturing cost or lead to extensive shrinkage during densification.
