The origin of the temporary and permanent strains in glass is explained and the fundamental equations by Adams and Williamson are quoted. The differences between the temporary and the permanent strains are explained. The author gives a review of the practical technological annealing methods the equations for the highest and for the suitable annealing rates and the practical annealig schedule. In a table the annealing constants for five industrially melted glasses are presented with a practical example of the calculation of the annealing schedule.
