Renaissance Of X-Ray Characterization For Coatings And Surfaces Of Glass

Laboratory x-ray methods are in the midst of a renaissance that has been enabled by the invention of x-ray optics, which harness a large fraction of the photo flux available from an x-ray tube. Proper use of modern x-ray optical components, most commercially available today, often bridges the gap between laboratory x-ray sources and synchrotron sources. Improved laboratory capability opens up new research areas and provides new perspectives with which to revisit traditional glassmaking problems.
