Refractivity Of Bridging And Nonbridging Oxygen Ions In Silicate Glasses

The molar refraction of glass is attributed to the refractivities of the constituting ions. Relations are given to calculate the refractivity of both the bridging and nonbridging oxygen ions in binary silicate glasses. The analysis presented allows one to follow the contribution of each ion in glass as a function of composition.
