Process Using Sliding Blades To Laterally Stretch Glass During Float Glass Maufacturing

Glass is stretched to a thickness differing from its equilibrium thickness on a float bath by drawing the molten glass ribbon across the bath by exerting a longitudinal force on the ribbon, and then contacting blades with the ribbon to convert the longitudinal force into a lateral component that laterally stretches the ribbon.
