Problems Of Nontraditional Glass Melting

Developments in unconventional methods of glass melting are reviewed briefly with particular reference to cyclone furnaces and the AVCO Advanced Glass Melter. The State Institute of Glass has developed a cyclone-type furnace capable of melting 60 tonnes/day at more than 6t/sq m with more than 60% thermal efficiency.
