Probing Of Phosphate Network Structure Of An Alumina Containing Phosphate Glass By Using The D > D Adsorption Properties Of An Incorporated Transition Metal Ion

A significant change in the d > d adsorption features of incorporated divalent copper ion has been noted in case of a phosphate glass with addition of alumina as one of its major components. The observed spectral change of the ion in the glass has been correlated to the structural change of the glass network that results due to the cross-linking of the phosphate chains of the glass by the alumina.
