Pollution Control At Lower Cost.

A method of recovering the tin tetrachloride from the hot end coating of glass bottles is described. The method prevents the overpay from going out the stack as a visible plume, polluting the atmosphere, and corroding the plant and surrounding facilities. A venturi scrubber, with a pressure drop of 55in. of water or more across the venturi and an alkaline spray into the venturi throat, will successfully capture the micron and submicron size particles. As the fumes and liquid accelerate into the throat of the venturi, the scrubbing liquid is rapidly broken into micron size droplets.
