Some physical properties of a series of ternary alkali stannosilicate glasses of general mol% composition xR20.(50-x)Sn0.50Si02 (R=Li, Na, K Rb) and xRO.(50-x)Sn0.50Si02 (R=Mg, Ca) have been determined. The manner in which the properties change with modifier type and concentration illustrates the influence of size and ionic potential of the third component.
