Photonics - A Light Introduction

Photonics is to light what electronics is to electricity. Light can be manipulated in many more ways than electrons to do our bidding. Fundamental physics of the universe seems to be connected to light: nothing travels faster than the speed of light. It is the privilege of humans to attempt to harness the power of the universe when it is revealed to them. The creation, manipulation, encoding, control, transmission, detection and decoding of light has only begun. This is the field of photonics.
