The production process of a wine glass stem was simulated numerically using a viscoelastic model with glass structural relaxation. The thermo-mechanical approach enabled the calculation of thermal deformation and transient/residual stresses in the glass. The result of heat transfer between the glass, the mould equipment and ambient air, reveals the cooling efficiency and quality. With this model, the detailed temperature and stress distribution in the glass and in all process phases were examined. Model parameter studies can help to understand the forming process and cooling efficiency. Three examples are given for process setting analysis.
