Mirror Constant For Tyranno Silicon-Titanium-Carbon-Oxygen Fibres Measured In Situ In A Three-Dimensional Woven Silicon Carbide/Silicon Carbide Composite

The strength, S, of ceramic and glass fibres often can be estimated from fractorgraphic investigation using the fracture mirror radius and the relationship S=Am/(rm)1/2, where Am is the "mirror constant." This work estimates the value of Am for Tyranno Si-Ti-C-O fibres in situ in a three dimensional woven SiC/SiC-based composite.
