Mineral Powder Laser Sintering And Applications To Glass

The research into the interaction laser/material has allowed the development of a new process: the laser decoration. The mineral powder laser sintering allows the realization of a design, directly evolved by CAD, on different substrates at the speed of a computer controlled laser beam. The laser decoration opens up new horizonz concerning the personalization of ceramic objects, thanks to the rapidity of the thermal treatment induced by the laser adn the flexibillity regarding the data processing. This technique is used for the decoration and personalization of all ceramic substrates and may be intergrated into the manufacturing process. The important feature of this process is to sinter a mineral powder at a higher temperature than the substrate can resist (ex: decoration of enamels at 1200 degrees on glass which is not resistant to a temperature higher than 600 degrees).
