Method For Determining Flow Direction And Velocity Of Glass In The Heating And Drawing Chmabers Of Flat-Glass Tanks.

A method is given showing how the direction of flow of fluid glass can be determined from temperature measurements. This is possible by determining the local heat balance. The resulting temperature changes in the glass permit inference of the local flow direction. In addition a new method is described which makes possible the determination of average and local flow directions and velocities of the glass in the heating and drawing chambers of plate glass tanks.
