Mechanical Performance Of Esp (Engineered Stress Profile) Glasses

Several procedures have been proposed in the past for the strengthening of glass. In this work, the theoretical principles proposed by Sglavo et al were reduced to practice using silicate glasses as starting materials and the well known ion-exchange process was used to produce the desired residual stress field. Three different glasses were considered - a typical soda-lime silicate "float" glass, the second, GT and the third G3, are glasses specifically produced by Pilkington and Corning, respectively.
