Chromium plays an important role in glass technology because of its colouring ability. The metal principally exists in either the trivalent or hexavalent form. The determination of total chromium and the speciation of its oxidation stats are interesting analytical subjects for both technological and environmental reasons. Sample preparation procedures have been developed for the determination of total and hexavalent chromium ing lass and raw materials used in the glass industry, such as silica sand and feldspar.
