Investigation Of Defects In High-Quality Glasses

Glass defects occur in many forms and originate from many sources. This paper focuses on viscous knots and cords originating from AZS refractories with a special emphasis on the chemistry and frequency of these defects as a function of furnace age and refractory reuse. Factors such as furnace throughput and temperature profile/stability on defects dissolution are not considered in this study.
