Interconnection Between Glass Formation And The Nature Of Crystallizing Phases For Usovite-Based Fluoroaluminate Melts

The glass formation and the crystallising phases of the melts based on modified composition of usovite were studied. The usovite was modified by partial or full replacing of Ba2+, Ca2+ ions in usovite formula unit by Sr2+, Y3+ ions with added MgF2 or YF3. The phase compositions of products of the cooling of these melts were determined with aid of X-ray diffraction and crystal-optics methods. An attempt to correlate the nature of precipitating phases with glass formation is made.
