Infrared Spectral Study On Tellurite Vanadate Vitreous Systems Containing Zno And Cdo

The influence of zinc and cadmium oxides on the structure of glasses in the 2Te02-V205-Me0(Me=Zn,Cd) systems was investigated. The glasses were prepared with a high ZnO and CdO concentration up to 75 mol%. It was found that TeO3 units with different symmetry exist in the whole concentration range and that the increase in ZnO and CdO content caused changes in vanadium coordination number towards oxygen from 5 to 4. This study showed that low fold coordinated Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions with respect to oxygen build up the network of the glasses at a high ZnO and CdO content.
