Infrared Radiant Furnace For Thermomechanical Investigations On Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coatings

Ceramic thermal barrier coatings used as protection for metallic components exposed to high thermal loads in modern gas turbines currently provide great potential for increasing the combustion temperatures and the efficiency as well as reducing noxious emissions. However, thermal barrier coatings do not at the moment exploit the full material potential since the service life and reliability of the protective coatings are limited.
