Hot Waste Glass Recycling In Glassworks

Today's glass production facilities are delivering high output of glass articles around the clock. As long as the production sequence runs trouble-free, an end product is formed. However, in case of interruption or breakdown, the gobs must be bypassed without delay, since the gob delivery as such cannot be stopped. In most cases, the hot glass gobs are conveyed into a basement underneath the production line and accommodated in water-filled containers, bins or similar units, where large quantities of glass will be collected that must be removed by expedite means. To remove the glass, a front end loader must be sent into the steam-filled room where the risk of being hit by hot glass exists. This situation prompted Zippe to investigate possibilities to partly or fully automate hot glass disposal. A solution is presented here in the form of a scraping conveyor.
