The coaxial cylinders technique, a high-accuracy, calibration-free technique developed to measure the electrical conductivity of previously inaccessible conductive, corrosive liquids, has been successfully applied to a glass melt. Briefly, the new technique employs coaxial cylindrical electrodes positioned at successive immersions in the liquid. At each immersion, a.c. impedance measurements are made over a wide frequency range. The electrical conductivity of the liquid is then calculated from the change in measured conductance with immersion.
