Glass: Top Consumer Choice

If you ask consumers how they would like their drinks packaged, the answer is usually the same, in glass. Consumer preference for purity & taint-free taste of products in glass, coupled with recent news reports on the impact of plastic packaging on consumers' health, means that glass packaging helps brands make a statement about product quality. The total recyclability of glass is also a major factor in its continued success; it can be made into new containers time after time with no loss in quality. British demand for glass spirits containers rose to 1,360m units in 2005. In the mainstream spirits sector, repackaging initiatives for Bell's, Dewar's White Label, J&B Reserve, & Cutty Sark keep faith in glass for innovations in shape & which other materials cannot match. There's also been a marked increase in UK-filled wines, especially those from the new world.
