Glass: The Eye Of Science

For 400 years, telescopes and microscopes have provided us with access to distant and tiny worlds. This article notes significant moments in the evolution of the glass used in both devices from their first appearance until the present, relating those moments to key discoveries, and reflects about what it means to extend our sense of vision using glass, the eye of science.
