Fluoride Washing Of Glass Containers

Procedures for washing parenteral glass containers can be made more effective for removing particulate matter by employing a fluoride treatment. The chemical resistance of the glass is also enhanced by inducing a rinsing step with either a hydrofluoric acid solution or ammonium bifluoride solution in the washing cycle. Fluoride treatment increases two to three times the effectiveness of the washing procedure.
