An Examinaiton Of Classical Nucleation Theory In A Phase Separating Binary Glass

Nucleation rates of phase separation were experimentally measured for a sodium silicate glass in the metastable regime. These rates were compared with those obtained from classical nuclation theory. This juxtaposition revealed information about the fundamental thermodynamics of phase separation, as well as the applicability of classical nucelation theory to phase separating systems.
