Immobilisation of spent clinoptilolite was carried out in a monolithic glass composite wasteform (GCM) produced by pressureless sintering at 750 C for 2h. Different loadings of simulated spent clinoptilolite (Cs-clino) were studied with glass to Cs-clino volume ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:10 (37-88mass% waste loading). The GCMs produced were characterised using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD) & energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. The wasteform durability was assessed by leaching in deionised water at 40C for 7 days. The microstructure of GCMs with up to 73 mass% loading consists of clinoptilolite particles & other crystalline phases (wollastonite, sodalite caesium aluminium silicate & caesium chloride) encapsulated in a glass matrix.
