Effect Of Edge Finish Of Float Glass Products On Their Strength And Fatigue Behaviour

Strength and dynamic fatigue data for two different edge finishes of float glass were measured using a special test fixture which permits 4-point bending in the vertical plane thereby stressing all edge flaws in the load span region uniformly. The fatigue behaviour of these relatively large flaws was found to be similar to that of scratch type surface flaws reported in the literature.
