[Discussion] Energy Saving Recommendations

Energy savings are critical to continuing profitable operations of enamelling plants as the cost of energy of all types continues to increase. Washers, dryers, environmental rooms, furnaces, cooling tunnels etc, all require energy. Heat is the largest cost for enamelling plants. Reduction of processing temperatures of about 20 deg F is shown to decrease heating costs by nearly 50% and greater savings with decreased 40 deg F for the parts Washers. Elimination of air infiltration by air seals also dramatically reduces energy costs of dryers, dry-off ovens and furnaces. A patented air vestibule design is illustrated as well as furnace air seals which reduce air exchange at process entrances. Reduction of temperatures nearly 400 deg F at the entry point of furnaces is illustrated in this paper.
