Determination Of Rare Earths In Glass Matrices By Means Of Ion Chromatography

Rare earths in the glass industry are used for many different technological purposes. Different percentages of these elements can confer on the glass physico-chemical characteristics which make it suitable for diverse applications. An analytical method for the qualtitative determination of lanthanides in glass matrices is proposed in this paper. Types of glass containing Cerium and Terbium are analyzed by means of ionic chromatography using an anionic exchange column. Results obtained by means of chromatography are compared with those obtained using wet method analysis.
