Crystallisation Behaviour Study Of Sio2-Al2O3-Mgo Glasses Containing Tio2 And Na2O

Glass ceramic materials have been prepared, starting from glass compositions with 52-68 wt% SiO2, 26-31 Al2O3, and 10-23 MgO. TiO2, added between 0.5 and 15 wt%, served as a nucleating agent. The content of Na2O varied between 0 and 20 wt%, depending on the melt viscosity. The melts developed were castable below 1450 deg C. The crystallisation phases were determined and areas of opalescent/translucent glass ceramics are described.
