Critical Study Of Rapid Methods Of Glass Analysis.

Purely chem. methods have been improved by the simplification or acceleration of the classical filtrations, evaporations, etc., by the use of new means of attack (e.g HClO4) and by the more extensive use of organic reagents to give complexes for gravimetry and mainly for colorimetry. These have given a 66% reduction in time for glass analysis without a decrease in precision. Na is determined as Na-Zn-U acetate, and Mg as oxinate. Other physico-chem. methods, polarography, potentiometry, conductimetry, etc., have been studied in a number of particular cases. Each method has its field of application, depending on the comp.of the glass been tested.
