Corrosion Behaviour Of Some Industrial Glasses In Various Aqueous Solutions

In this work, glasses produced essentially by National Glass and Crystal Factory, Cairo, Egypt, were chosen to investigate their chemical durability and suitability for food preservation by studying the action of different acidic and alkaline solutions on the glasses. The effect of prolonged time of immersion in various solutions also gives an indication about the optimum period that any specified material could be preserved in these glass containers. Finally, the study at different temperatures gives an idea about the selection of the suitable temperature for storing. The experimental results show that the glasses under investigation can be used for food preservation.
