Contribution To The Calculation Of Two Dimensional Convection Currents In Continous Glass Furnaces. Part 2: Results Of Calculations

Temperature and velocity distributions have been determined for different operating conditions using the mathematical model developed in Part 1. Two closed circulation loops are characteristic of these flows which are due to buoyancy. The throughput flowing between these two "rolls" includes a "critical" streamline the path of which has a very important influence on the homogenising action of the furnace. The effects of the different tank parameters on the path of this "critical" streamline are related and evaluated.
