Comment On "Mechanism Of Mechanical Strength Increase Of Soda-Lime Glass By Aging"

It is considered that the results quoted by Han and Tomozawa (J Am Ceram Soc 1989 72 10 1837-1843) are insufficient to decide whether the crack-tip blunting model or the residual stress model represents the real mechanism of strength increase in glass by ageing.
