Characterization Of Coatings On Glass By Neutron Reflectivity Supported By Already Established Techniques

Several optical and physical techniques are currently used for the characterization of inorganic coatings on glass. This paper studies the applicability of neutron reflectivity as a new method of investigation of multi-layer coatings deposited on flat glass. Besides neutron reflectivity, the samples were analysed by ion beam techniques (RBS and SIMS) and spectrophotometry. These methods give complementary information concerning composition, thickness, optical parameters, surface roughness and homogeneity of each coating and roughness of the interface between adjacent layers.
