Calcualtions Of Two-Dimensional Convection Currents In Continuous Glass Tanks: I - Mathematical Model

Mutual interactions between energy transport, free convection and forced convection exist in continuous tanks with blanket charging. This interaction permits only a numerical method for a mathematical treatment of non isothermal flow for the widely differing boundary conditions. A two-dimensional mathematical model for the temperature and velocity distribution was developed. To avoid difficulties of convergence, the new method of section solution was used. The model permits changes in geometry, glass properties, and boundary conditions for both temperature and flow. Results of Calculation - Ibid 12 261-70
