Of all the global economic drivers, the price of oil is probably the single most important. Every day nearly 90 million barrels are consumed globally. It fuels our cars, our planes and our ships. It both heats and insulates homes, and can be found n much of the furnishings we fill them with - a single sofa can contain as much as 60 litres. It is widely used in the fertilisers we brow our food with, the clothes we wear and the plethora of plastics we use to make everything from packaging to automotive components. However, since July 2014, the global oil price has halved, meaning the plastics recycling industry has to compete with much cheaper virgin polymers. This has particularly hit those without deep pockets. This article asks "Is there any hope on the horizon for the recycling sector?"
