Application Of Batch Blanket Monitoring System In Glass Furnaces

Melting processes and glass quality can be optimised by using information on the batch blanket pattern for controlling the batch coverage in industrial glass tanks. For this aim, a batch blanket monitoring system that continuously analyses batch blanket patterns in industrial glass tanks has been tested by TNO in co-operation with Software & Technologie Glas GmbH Cottbus. Correlations between batch blanket parameters (length, size, covered surface area, symmetry) and process parameters, such as crown temperatures, batch-charging settings, and input of fuel, were demonstrated. These correlations can be used to improve the melting processes.
