Anisotropy Of Colour Centres In Oxide Glasses

A study is undertaken into the absorption anisotropy in initial and gamma irradiated oxide glasses on anisotropic exposure to light. It is shown that the absorption anisotropy of the hole centres with peaks near 2.0, 2.6-2.8, and 4.0eV in alkali silicate glasses concerned with existence of the anisotropy of source structure unites on which hole centres form. It is assumed that the presence of anisotropy of the hole centers in other oxide glasses are responsible by the similar cuase. The method of evaluation of anisotropy factory (B) is suggested. It is obtained, that the value ofB for hole centres (at 2.0, 2.6-2.8, 4.0eV) in alkali silicate glasses is nearly equal and increases in the order of Cs-Rg-Na.
