Acid Corrosion Testing Of Glass Going Up To 400 Deg F

To obtain laboratory information ont he chemical durability of glass linings , a loss-in-weight acid test on solid glass specimens was developed for the 200-400 deg F range. The effect of temperature variation, the inhibiting effect of the container and a control specimen, and the ratio of acid volume to specimen surface were factors which influenced the corrosion rate. The specimen, specially designed container, and heating equipment are described.
