How we collect information
When you use our website and services, you are in control of what information is collected. We only collect personal information about you, and any other individual, when you provide those details.
We’ll collect this when you:
- sign up to receive news about our work and services
- ask for a user account
- submit your details, eg email address, to access premium content
- book places at or attend training courses, events and meetings
- respond to surveys.
If you visit our office for a meeting or training event, your image may be captured on CCTV recording. This is used for security purposes, after which all footage is deleted.
What information do we collect?
Information about you, including your name, email address, job title, business name, telephone number or interests. We only collect what you specifically provide.
Information about your computer and about your visits to, and use of, the website (including your IP address, approximate geographical location, browser type, referral source, length of visit and number of page views). How is your information used?
We will use your information to:
manage your website user account (if you have one)
organise events and training you have registered for
send you copies of publications you have requested
respond to specific enquiries you have made
develop our services
If you are a British Glass member, or have opted-in to our mailings, we may also send you information about our activity, services and events. You can update your preferences or opt out of such mailings at any time using the links at the bottom of our emails or by contacting email@example.com
Your information may also be used by British Glass to generate website user reports; this is analytical information and does not include your personal data.
Unless there is a differing legal or contractual obligation, we’ll only store your data for a maximum period of three years after our last contact with you. After this it will be removed from our company server, unless you give us permission to keep you on our database.
Who has access to your information?
We will not sell or rent your information to third parties and your information will not be shared for marketing purposes.
We may need to share your information with our suppliers providing services such as website maintenance, event venues or printers in order to provide the services you have requested of us.
We use some externally provided tools/services to collect, process or store your data (eg Mail Chimp, Event Brite, Survey Monkey, Google Analytics). We only use reputable providers which are secure and comply with the General Data Protection Regulations and other relevant legislation. These services/tools may have servers based in the UK, EU or USA.
We only use tools/services based in the US if they are covered by the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework (a mechanism set up by the European Commission and the US Department of Commerce to comply with data protection requirements when transferring personal data from the European Union and Switzerland to the United States).
We will not contact you for marketing purposes by email, phone or text unless you have given your prior consent.
