British Glass has been announced as part of the shortlist for three awards at two Chamber of Commerce hosted business awards.

The prestigious awards recognise excellence in the Sheffield City Region and British Glass has been named as a finalist on three employee led categories – Committed to People Development and Workplace Wellbeing at Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards and Employer of the Year at Sheffield Business Awards.

Gareth Jones, operations and commercial director at British Glass said, “We’re delighted to have made the shortlist for the three awards. We’ve worked hard over the past two years to develop an extensive wellbeing, development and reward package for our staff.

“Forming part of our employee retention and recruitment strategy, we hope that by being a finalist for these awards we are able to outwardly show our commitment to our people and show what a great place to work British Glass is.”

Committed to People Development recognises “an organisation that can demonstrate excellence in its approach to the skills development of its workforce to positively impact on the overall business” and the Workplace Wellbeing award will recognise “businesses that are creating an environment for their employees to succeed by demonstrating their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their workforce”

The Sheffield business award, Employer of the year, recognises “an organisation that excels in offering the most comprehensive work environment, either through the implementation of a learning and development culture, staff incentive schemes, recognition/remuneration & retention packages or health and wellbeing initiatives.”

Deborah Firth, Senior HR Manager added, “Over 90% of our workforce has taken part in training and development in the last year and we are proud of what we have been able to offer our people. The wellbeing of our staff is highly important to us as a company and making the shortlist for three award categories helps to validate the hard work we’ve undertaken to ensure our staff are happy and healthy in the workplace, as well as feel valued and engaged to do the best job they can.”

The winners of the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards will be announced on Friday, 18 October 2019 and the Sheffield Business Awards will take place on Thursday, 5 December 2019.
